BMA announces industrial action dates

The British Medical Association (BMA) has announced the dates their junior doctors in England will take action, should they ballot in favour of industrial action (the ballot closes on Wednesday 18 November).
In response to this announcement Danny Mortimer, chief executive at NHS Employers said:
“We know this will have a huge impact on patient care and we urge the BMA to avoid putting patients and the NHS in this position by returning to talks with us. Proposed strike action, as outlined by the BMA would be hugely regrettable. Employers across the NHS will be extremely disappointed and anxious about the difficult situation they will find themselves in to make sure work schedules are met and patient care is not compromised.”
In the first of three events, junior doctors will provide emergency care only, which is the same as they would provide in their specialty, hospital or GP practice on Christmas Day:
·         Tuesday 1 December (from 8am until 8am Wednesday 2 December) - emergency care only.
They then intend to escalate their industrial action over the following weeks and have two full walk-outs on the following dates:
·         Tuesday 8 December (from 8am to 5pm) - full walk out

·         Wednesday 16 December (from 8am to 5pm) - full walk out.
