Our Masterclass, led by international performance coach Russell Earnshaw is kindly sponsored by The Finegreen Group. Russell's session will offer an exploration of what 'talent' is and how we might best nurture and retain it through thinking more like coaches, how we might become more self-aware to help us lead in the future and how we could be talking more about care and love in our environments. All glued together by some simple nudges to help you think more creatively about solutions to your problems and ways of making behavioural change more ‘sticky’ with real practical examples from sport, education and business.

This session will enable delegates to start to think about their own personal styles and ways of dealing with others, not just their own teams, but how they can support and diffuse situations within the workplace using particular tools and techniques.
The session will be interactive and participative and will challenge delegates to think about our traditional HR approaches and how they can move from formal dialogue and sometimes stand-off positions to more collaborative positive outcomes in relationship breakdown cases. We look forward to kicking off the new year with equipping you with the knowledge and skills you can then practice through 2018 to help you reduce the number of cases which reach a relationship breakdown point and result in lengthy and costly ER cases.

Mock Tribunal Tuesday 5 December 2017, Walton Centre NHS FT

HPMA North West in conjunction with Hempsons and 9 St Johns Street Chambers present a mock employment tribunal. This is an opportunity for NHS HR professionals to be taken through a mock employment tribunal hearing with opportunity for discussion and explanation of each stage of the hearing. With the recent removal of employment tribunal fees we anticipate an increase in employment tribunal claims and hearings so this is the perfect time for delegates to improve their understanding of the ET process.

The event will include:
·         Advocacy from experienced advocates
·         Witnesses being cross-examined
·         An opportunity for delegates to be part of the decision making
·         Consideration of how ETs reach decisions
We know from past experience that these events are both educational and entertaining so we look forward to see you in court!

Clued up or clueless? – It’s your call: A comprehensive practical session on how to quality assure workplace investigations

HPMA North West is committed to supporting members’ Learning and Development, focussing on topics that are current, relevant and have real practical value to their busy day to day practices. Having listened to what our members want to hear about, HPMA has partnered up with law firm, Law by Design and its sister company Investigations by Design. Together we are offering members a full day interactive seminar and workshop on how to ensure workplace investigations are conducted with sufficient rigor and quality not only to satisfy an employment tribunal but to satisfy the requirements of natural justice and internal core values.

A defective or incomplete investigation can be highly expensive in terms of human, legal, financial, business and reputational consequences. Hosted by experienced NHS lawyer and Director, Kirsty MacDonald and supported by senior colleagues from both LBD and IBD, the session will guide delegates through the legal and practical minefields of undertaking a high-quality investigation in the workplace. It will comprise a mixture of presentations and interactive case studies and workshops.
