This issue brings you a round-up from our UK Conference in Manchester last month with articles fr
As I write to you this week I am reflecting that I have completed my first year as President of HPMA. I have to admit it's been a lot of work, however, it's a privilege to lead and I've really enjoyed the role. It is so inspiring and rewarding to see the passion for great HR and great people management at our meetings and events.
It's been quite a year for HPMA and we've seen lots of activity in our branches and events to develop and support our members. We've also completed what we set out to do in reviewing the way we govern and run HPMA and also engaging our members, VPs, partners and supporters in developing our ambitious and compelling vision and strategy for the future.
Don't forget we are holding an event on the 26th April where all award applicants, branch committee members and any other members and supporters are invited to launch the vision and strategy. You'll also discover what your colleagues have been doing in other parts of the UK and what's on the horizon. Also HPMA has been in existence for 40 years in some form or another so we plan to celebrate this too. This is a free event.... but please register and you can find details at: http://hpma.purrdigital.com/learning-development/event/hpma-launch-our-new-vision-and-strategy
I am also feeling like it's the start of something really special. I always think that April feels more like a new year than January. The clocks have gone forward so there's more day light, Spring is on its way, (really it is.... I actually swam in the open air this weekend), and we embark on a new business year with all our plans and aspirations.
Whilst HPMA has its own role and vision, one of the ways we deliver our strategy is to work in partnership with other parts of the healthcare system and organisations to ensure that together we can do more for our profession, our practitioners, our people managers and ultimately our patients. So I'm delighted to let you know that HPMA will be working in partnership with NHS Employers, NHS England and the NHS Leadership Academy NHS Executive Search team to develop an Aspirant Director of Workforce Career Development Programme.
Watch out this week for the launch of #NHSFutureHR which aims to keep NHS HR professionals up to date with the NHS Professional Development Strategy.
We've also been busy over recent weeks shortlisting this year's Excellence in HRM awards applications so a big thank you to all the judges for giving so much time and attention to getting this right. We’ve had a record-breaking number of entries ever this year so well done to everyone who made the effort to send an application in. Congratulations to all those who have been shortlisted and good luck for your presentations at the judging day on the 27th April. For those that didn't get shortlisted this year thank you taking the time to apply and for your good work which I am sure will have been of value in your organisations and there is always next year.
As usual there are lots of helpful articles in this edition of network and look out for what's going on in your local branches.
Have a good week and I hope to see you at our celebration on the 26th.
