HPMA response to the appointment of Prerana Issar as Chief People Officer
‘HPMA welcomes the appointment of Prerana Issar as Chief People Officer. For too long HR has not had the profile in the national NHS regulators it deserves and patients and staff are now reaping some of the consequences. This appointment is a great opportunity to work with the HR profession in the NHS and to capitalise on the desire to build effective and modern people management skills. To do that we need to stop thinking of HR and Workforce as back office functions, where cheapest is seen as best, and to really invest in building HR capacity so we can be serious about solving the problems we face today, and more importantly, plan for a sustainable future where staff are valued and supported to undertake some of the most important, challenging and rewarding roles on the country. HPMA looks forward to working with Prerana and the perspective from working in different sectors she will bring.’
