South West Branch update

As part of our series looking at what HPMA branches across the country are planning for their members over the next few months, Alison Kingscott reports from the South West branch.

We have a refreshed committee with new members and a new Vice President. Among our committee members, we have a wide cross section of organisations represented including:
·         Acute Trusts (FT and non-FT)
·         MH Partnership Trust
·         Community Trust
·         Leadership Academy
·         Legal Services Commercial Partner
·         Recruitment Services Commercial Partner
What we want to achieve
We have two principles that guide what we want to do and how we hope to deliver them:
Vision: To enable improved patient care and health outcomes through excellence in people management.
Mission: To improve the capability, practice and impact of HR & OD practitioners in healthcare in the South West.
Through:Building professional networks and offering continuous development to deliver People and HR Excellence
What have we done IN 2015/6?
So far we have held an OD Masterclass, an Annual Conference on the Post-Election Landscape and an HRBP Development Event – ‘It’s all about YOU – making an impact’. We have just held a patient first workshop as well. However, we have plans to hold many more events as listed in the box below.
What we plan to do

Bitesize Legal Update (1 hr) – Webinar
Consulting Skills/ HR Business Partnering
Annual conference
Bitesize event - Webinar
Bitesize event (1 hour) - Webinar
Showcase Event – ‘HR at its best’
What will that mean for members?
As a developing branch we are keen for members to get involved in any way they want. We have increased our membership base by over 50% and aim to increase this further this year.  We want to continue to develop a vibrant events plan and welcome ideas from members, and offers of input are greatly received! By getting involved members can share their ideas and good practice so that we improve the overall experience and knowledge of our HR community in the south west. And have some fun along the way!
