We are looking for a group of creative thinkers to be a part of this exciting two-part webinar series which will focus on reward and retention. 
Richard Edge, HR & Workforce Consultant at Ara Darzi Qatar Ltd 
and a member of the Academy’s Development Group will be using his knowledge and expertise to lead these two thought provoking webinars and give particpants a wider understanding of how they can reward and retain their staff.

This two-part series will be split across two dates and will be extremely interactive. Richard will lead the webinar and encourage discussion on a number of topics around reward and retention. The success of this format will rely on confident participants who want to learn more about this subject and explore it in further detail. Each webinar will last for 60 minutes.

The platform to be used will be Mymeeting Adobe Connect which will ensure that no downloads or installations are required.


This webinar will aim to give participants a wider understanding of how they can reward and retain their staff. It will explore the 'total reward' philosophy and how we can learn from a global perspective to help achieve this. 

Target Audience 

The ideal participant will be;

  • A HR professional at HR Business Partner level or Head of Recruitment
  • With a responsibility for implementing strategic improvements within their business area against recruitment or retention KPI’s
  • Someone who has tried initiatives in this area in the last 18 months, either successful initiatives or not successful initiatives
  • A creative thinker, open to trying new things.
  • Someone willing to participate in two sessions and carry out “homework” and feedback as part of the second discussion 


Each webinar will last for 60 minutes and will be extremely interactive.

The first webinar will explore the following;

  • Introductions and scene setting
  • Overview of the current context in the NHS, high level numbers in terms of staffing, the increased role of CQC, the impact of Saville and safe staffing mandates etc.
  • The elephant in the room – temporary staffing
  • Non-Financial Reward – what is it?
  • A Global Perspective – a quick tour of the US, Europe, and Qatar. What do we do better, what can we learn?
  • Round table discussion – what obstacles to implementation are there?
  • Follow-up task for second webinar 

The follow-up webinar will then; 

  • Catch up on what we discussed in the first session
  • Review of the task (2-3 minutes feedback per participant)
  • Capturing key trends and themes
  • Creating a pool of contacts for going forward to help each other overcome obstacles 

HR Competencies

The session will address 'Strategic Operator' at level 3 from our HR Competency Framework.

  • Aware of the strategic context you are operating in and considers the strategic implications of all key decisions

Just like all of our other events, by particpating in this two-part series, you will recieve an e-certificate for your attendance, which you can use back at work for your professional development. 

Webinar Lead 

Richard comes with a wealth of experience in HR with a background in strategic HR and organisational development. He is a FCIPD qualified professional with the commercial diligence, legal expertise and strong business focus to initiate and project lead delivery of recognisable improvements.

Richard has been working overseas in the State of Qatar for the past 16 months, focusing on improving and growing the health sector. He is keen to share his international expertise to help improve the practice of HR and OD professionals in the UK health sector.

To be a part of this two-part webinar series, you will not need to download any software, neither do you have to sign up for a free trial.

This webinar is completely free. To join the session a meeting URL will be sent directly to your email which will take you straight to the online portal.

 Participants are encouraged to use a headset to ensure that sound quality is kept at an optimum level.
